Description

Tetra methyl ammonium bicarbonate is an inorganic compound. It is a white, crystalline solid that is soluble in water and methanol. Tetra methyl ammonium bicarbonate has been used as a buffer solution for pH measurements and to adjust the pH of a solution. This chemical ionization technique is also used for the detection of organic compounds, such as fatty acids, by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The chemical substance has been found to be carcinogenic when inhaled or ingested. Tetra methyl ammonium bicarbonate can be found naturally in some plants, animals, and microorganisms, but it can also be produced artificially.
