2-Tetrahydrofuranyl methacrylate is a monomer that belongs to the group of organic solvents. It is soluble in water and has a vapor pressure of 0.039 mmHg at 25 degrees Celsius. This compound can be crosslinked with polymers, such as polyvinyl chloride, by using an acid catalyst or heat. 2-Tetrahydrofuranyl methacrylate is used as a polymerization initiator for cyclic olefins, including ethylene and vinyl acetate, and it can be used to encapsulate drugs such as antibiotics. This compound can also be used to synthesize salts such as lithium 2-tetrahydrofuranyl methacrylate carbonate (Li2TFMCO3).
