Description :
Tellurium tetrachloride is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of metal carbonyls. It can be used as a catalyst in reactions involving hydrochloric acid and hydrogen chloride. Tellurium tetrachloride has been shown to have transport properties that are dependent on temperature, pressure, and the concentration of other gases present. The rate at which it is transported is proportional to the square root of the partial pressure of tellurium tetrachloride multiplied by its molar volume. Tellurium tetrachloride has also been shown to inhibit target enzymes, such as acetyl-CoA carboxylase, that are involved in metabolism. This inhibition may be due to coordination with an enzyme's active site or by altering its conformation.
