• Description: Testosterone-d3 is a synthetic, injectable anabolic steroid. It is a derivative of testosterone, where the hydrogen atom on the 3rd carbon of the A-ring has been replaced by a deuterium atom. Testosterone-d3 is used in scientific research to measure androgenic activity and to distinguish between natural and synthetic androgens. In wastewater treatment it is used as an analytical tool for detecting trenbolone and goserelin, which are veterinary drugs that have been banned in many countries due to their potential to cause cancer. The increased sample preparation steps required for chromatographic analysis can be avoided by using chemical ionization (CI) mass spectrometry. CI mass spectrometry has also been shown to be effective at distinguishing between compounds with similar structures.
