TGN1412 is a monoclonal antibody that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The drug was voluntarily withdrawn from clinical development following an adverse event during a clinical trial. Patients who received TGN1412 experienced life-threatening blood clots, fevers, chills, and headaches within minutes of receiving the drug. These side effects have been attributed to contamination in the manufacturing process or the presence of another contaminant in the drug product.
