• Description: Triflupromazine hydrochloride is a non-competitive antagonist of the central dopamine transporter. It has been shown to reduce locomotor activity in mice and rats, which may be due to inhibition of ATP-sensitive K+ channels. Triflupromazine hydrochloride binds to the dopamine transporter and blocks its activity, thereby inhibiting the reuptake of dopamine from the synaptic cleft. This drug has been shown to be effective against infectious diseases such as bacterial infections and viral infections. Triflupromazine hydrochloride also has profound physiological effects that include reduction in nitrous oxide production and increased glomerular filtration rate.
