N-Thionylaniline is a sodium salt that has been used in the past to treat degenerative diseases. It is typically supplied as a white powder that can be dissolved in water. N-Thionylaniline is also used for the manufacture of polymer films, which are often used as a protective coating on metal surfaces. N-Thionylaniline has potential applications as an antiviral agent against herpes simplex virus and may be useful in preventing the spread of streptococcus faecalis through its ability to inhibit bacterial growth by damaging cell walls. The molecular structure of N-thionylaniline consists of nitrogen atoms and two sulfamoyl chloride groups, which are connected to each other by a thiourea linkage. This salt reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce sodium chloride and sulfamic acid. The molecule is planar with one plane of symmetry, containing four different groups: -S-Cl-, -N=N-, -NH2
