Description :
Trimethoprim-d9 (TMP-d9) is a form of trimethoprim that can be used for the treatment of bacterial infections. The uptake of TMP-d9 by bacteria is dependent on the physiological state of the organism and is used as an indicator of cell metabolic activity. The biological treatment process that uses TMP-d9 to treat wastewater has been shown to reduce the concentration of pharmaceuticals and other organic pollutants in water. This process also has a low cost and generates high quality effluent water. TMP-d9 may also be used as an analytical method for screening active substances in wastewater samples. It is detectable at 1 µg/L concentrations and can be quantified using gas chromatography with a flame ionization detector (PPCPs).
