Trichlorotriazine is a compound with the formula NCl3. It is an aromatic compound that contains three nitrogen atoms and one chlorine atom. Trichlorotriazine can be obtained by the aromatization of o-xylene or by the cyclization of 1,2-dichloroethane. In addition, it can also be synthesized from 2-chloro-1,3-diazine and 1,2-cyclopentadiene. The reaction between hydrogen fluoride and trichlorotriazine produces fluorine gas and hydrogen chloride (HCl). This reaction is exothermic and can be used as a heat source for other reactions.
