Description

Tauroursodeoxycholic acid sodium salt (90%) is a bile acid that has been shown to have cytotoxic effects. It binds to the cytosolic calcium ion, causing the polymerase chain reaction to stop and inhibiting DNA synthesis. Tauroursodeoxycholic acid sodium salt has also been shown to have significant cytotoxicity in vitro and in vivo. In addition, tauroursodeoxycholic acid sodium salt has been found to inhibit oxidative injury in neuronal cells and induce apoptosis through the activation of pro-apoptotic protein death receptor signaling pathways. Tauroursodeoxycholic acid sodium salt has also been shown to be effective against primary sclerosing cholangitis, which is an inflammatory condition of the bile ducts that results in chronic inflammation and fibrosis. Tauroursodeoxycholic acid sodium salt can be used as a biomarker for biliary cirrhosis or primary sclerosing cholangitis
