Description :
1,2,6,7-Tetrahydro-8H-indeno[5,4-b]furan-8-one is a synthetic compound that is used in the synthesis of melatonin receptor ligands. The group of compounds are designed to be trackable by positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT) imaging. This compound has been shown to undergo debromination and hydrogenolysis with raney nickel to give 1,2-dibromoethane. Friedel-Crafts acylation produces tert-butyl 2-(1,2,6,7-tetrahydro-8H-[5′]-indeno[5′′]furan)-8-carboxylate after catalytic reduction.
