The kinetic of this reaction has been studied using glyoxal, glycolaldehyde, and hydroxycarboxylic acid as substrates. Reaction intermediates were identified by multiresponse techniques. Kinetic parameters were determined by modelling and kinetic experiments at different temperatures and concentrations.
