Description

3',4',7-Trihydroxyisoflavone is a flavonoid found in soybeans that has been shown to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticarcinogenic properties. It has been shown to protect the skin from ultraviolet radiation-induced carcinogenesis by inhibiting epidermal growth factor (EGF) and its receptor. 3',4',7-Trihydroxyisoflavone also inhibits the synthesis of nuclear DNA and mitochondrial membrane potential. It may be a therapeutic agent for skin cancer as well as other types of cancers. 3',4',7-Trihydroxyisoflavone is a transcriptional regulator that binds to response elements on DNA and regulates gene expression. This compound is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes that are involved in drug metabolism.
