Description :
3-Tolylboronic acid is a boronic acid that can be used in the synthesis of β-unsaturated ketones. It has been shown to react with styrene and phenylalanine to form 3-tolylboronates, which are monomers for polymers. The cross-coupling reaction between 3-tolylboronic acid and Grignard reagent is an important application in organic synthesis. 3-Tolylboronic acid has been postulated to have tumor cell growth inhibition properties due to its structural analysis, but this has not been confirmed yet. Advancements in the understanding of the reaction mechanism and ligand binding may lead to future clinical applications of this compound.
