Description

1-Tetradecanol is a chemical compound that has been used as a model system for studying the biochemical properties of long-chain alcohols. It has been shown to be a potent antimicrobial agent, with activity against Gram-positive bacteria and Candida albicans. 1-Tetradecanol is soluble in trifluoroacetic acid and insoluble in water. The phase transition temperature for 1-tetradecanol can be determined using an analytical method such as differential scanning calorimetry or by measuring its melting point. 1-Tetradecanol is also used in the study of infectious diseases, including galleria mellonella and Linoleyl alcohol.
