• Description: Thiosemicarbazide is a natural compound that belongs to the group p2. It has been shown to be an antimicrobial agent against Gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus, and Gram-negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Thiosemicarbazide reacts with copper chloride to produce a blue reaction solution. This solution can then be used for disinfecting water and wastewater treatment. Thiosemicarbazide also has potential anticancer properties due to its ability to inhibit the mitochondrial membrane potential in cells. The biological studies on this compound are limited, but it has been shown that coumarin derivatives may be able to replace thiosemicarbazide in order to create anti-cancer drugs.
