Triisobutylaluminium is a solid catalyst that is used for the production of polyolefins. It has been shown to have high catalytic activity, good chemical stability, and low viscosity. The surface methodology of triisobutylaluminium has been studied by FT-IR spectroscopy and x-ray diffraction data. This type of catalyst can be synthesized by the addition of aluminium chloride to a mixture of isobutane and butanol.
