2,2',4'-Trichloroacetophenone is an industrial chemical that is used in the manufacture of other chemicals. It can be found in many products including plastics, paints, rubber, adhesives, and pesticides. 2,2',4'-Trichloroacetophenone is a substrate for a number of different enzymes that catalyze reactions with this compound. These enzymes include miconazole nitrate (a drug used to treat fungal infections), which reacts with 2,2',4'-trichloroacetophenone to form 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid. This reaction may also be catalyzed by other drugs such as diphenylprolinol or aluminium chloride. The structural analysis of tissues treated with 2,2',4'-trichloroacetophenone has shown the presence of chloride ions.
