3-(1H-Tetrazol-1-yl)aniline is a chemical compound that is a benzylidene derivative of aniline. It has been shown to be a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which breaks down acetylcholine in the synapse. The rate constant for this reaction was determined to be 2.5 x 10^(-2) M/s and the equilibrium constant was found to be 3.0 x 10^(-6). This product has also been shown to have a condensation reaction with phenethyl alcohol, producing the corresponding phenethyl amine and benzoic acid (see equation).
