4'-(Trifluoromethyl)-2-biphenylcarboxylic acid (4TF2B) is a fatty acid that is used as a pharmaceutical cross-coupling agent to prepare conjugates. 4TF2B has been shown to be an effective diagnostic agent for the determination of fatty acids in human serum and plasma. This compound is also used as a homogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of fatty acids and cholesterol esters. 4TF2B is a lipid-soluble molecule that can be reconstituted into liposomes, which provide stability, solubility, and protection from oxidation. The lipid-soluble nature of 4TF2B also allows it to act as an oxygen function in the synthesis of polymeric matrices.
