1-[(Triisopropylsilyl)ethynyl]-1,2-benziodoxol-3(1H)-one is a benzofuran that is synthesized from anilines and ethynylmagnesium bromide. The synthesis of this compound has been reported by the group of R.J.K. Taylor in 1979. The benzofuran ring system has two geometric isomers, cis and trans, which are formed by the reaction of the hydroxyethylene group with the 1,2-benziodoxol-3(1H)-one ring system. The synthesis of this compound is efficient due to functional groups such as carbonyls, radicals, and hypervalent iodine moieties that are present in the molecule.
