Description

c1-[3-(Trimethoxysilyl)propyl]urea is a neutral particle with a reactive hydroxide group. It is soluble in water and organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone, or chloroform. The chemical stability of c1-[3-(Trimethoxysilyl)propyl]urea is high, with no evidence of decomposition or polymerization. It has been used as a film-forming polymer in polyurethane coatings and as an additive for polyamides to improve their resistance to wear and heat aging. The compound has also been used in the production of poly(vinyl alcohol) for its ability to bind water molecules and increase the viscosity of the solution.
