Description

Tris(2-ethylhexyl) Trimellitate is a fatty acid that is metabolized by human beings. It has been shown to adsorb to the red cell membrane, which may be due to its hydrophobicity. Tris(2-ethylhexyl) Trimellitate has also been shown to have transport properties, as it is able to cross the blood-brain barrier and enter the central nervous system. This compound can be used for analytical purposes in polyvinyl chloride or polyurethane coatings, as it has been found that it does not react with proteins or polyvinyl chloride. The compound can be analyzed using a LC-MS/MS method with phosphotungstic acid and trifluoroacetic acid as reagents.
