Description

Triethylene glycol dimethacrylate is a monomer that belongs to the group of triethylene glycols. It is used in dentistry as an agent that inhibits water vapor, and it is also found in some metal chelates. Triethylene glycol dimethacrylate has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity in a model system with human cells. It affects mitochondrial functions by inhibiting the polymerase chain reaction and DNA synthesis, which may be due to its ability to form intermolecular hydrogen bonds. The inhibition of polymerization of DNA can lead to cell death because without DNA replication there is no cell division.
