Tricin 4'-methyl ether is a flavonol glycoside that is found in the leaves of Triticum aestivum, which is commonly known as wheat. It has been shown to inhibit tyrosinase, an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of tyrosine to DOPA and subsequently DOPA to dopaquinone. Tricin 4'-methyl ether is also a potent inhibitor of mammalian DNA polymerase δ (pol δ), which has been shown to be involved in polymerization reactions that are required for transcription and replication. This compound may also have anticancer activity, with studies demonstrating its ability to inhibit tumor cell proliferation in vitro.
