(2E)-3-(3-Thienyl)Acrylic Acid is a simplex virus that can be expressed in the laboratory. This compound has potential use as a treatment for bacterial infections, such as those caused by Aeruginosa. It was found that (2E)-3-(3-Thienyl)Acrylic Acid inhibits the growth of Aeruginosa by interfering with its ability to make ATP and form hydrogen bonds, which are necessary for cellular processes. The compound also disrupts the function of the electron transport chain, inhibiting the production of energy in cells and leading to cell death.
