Description :
1,1,1-Trifluorohexan-2-One is a trifluoromethylated organic compound that has insecticidal and larvicidal activity. It is structurally related to the natural insecticide pyrethrum. The compound reacts with alcohols and forms an alkylating agent. This results in inhibition of cholinesterase, which leads to death from paralysis. 1,1,1-Trifluorohexan-2-One also inhibits the growth of malaria vector mosquitoes by interfering with their ability to produce eggs.
