3-(Trifluoromethyl)-piperidine is a bioactive molecule that belongs to the class of nucleophilic compounds. It has an N-trifluoromethyl group, which enables it to act as a nucleophile in reactions involving electron transfer between organic molecules. 3-(Trifluoromethyl)-piperidine can be used in synthesis reactions to produce products such as paclitaxel and other fluoroalkyl macrolides. Compounds containing this functional group are also able to catalyze the addition of olefinic groups onto other molecules, resulting in synthons with desired properties for future drug design. 3-(Trifluoromethyl)-piperidine may be used as a tool for elucidating the mechanism of reaction of various types of cancer cells and macrolides.
