4-(Trifluoromethyl)nicotinamide is a metabolite of nicotine that can be found in urine as a result of smoking or exposure to tobacco smoke. It has been detected by HPLC-UV and LC-MS/MS methods with low detection limits. The method validation is based on the validation of the antibody against the analyte, which was determined to be specific and reproducible. 4-(Trifluoromethyl)nicotinamide can be found in many foods, such as vegetables, fruits, cereals, meat products and fish products. The matrix effect may affect the analytical results due to its high concentration in some foods. This compound can also be found in mosquito pest control systems. 4-(Trifluoromethyl)nicotinamide has been shown to have terminal residues in mosquitoes after treatment with it.
