S-(Trifluoromethyl)-L-homocysteine inhibits the synthesis of methionine by binding to corynebacterium glutamicum and preventing the formation of methionine from homocysteine. Chemical stability has also been demonstrated for this compound in the presence of various acids, bases, alcohols, and oxidizing agents.
