• Description: 2,3,5,6-Tetrafluoro-4-Methylbenzoic Acid (TFMB) is a pyrethroid that is used to control insect populations. It has been used as a pesticide and an insecticide in agriculture and livestock production. TFMB is not very toxic to mammals but is highly toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates. TFMB has been detected in urine samples of humans who have been occupationally exposed to this chemical. Quantitative analysis of TFMB can be accomplished by hydrolysis of the ester group on the molecule followed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. Evaluation of calibration curves for quantifying TFMB was conducted in Sprague-Dawley rats on intraperitoneal injection with TFMB.; br>br>
