3H-Tetrafluoropropionic acid (3HFPA) is a reactive fluorine-containing compound that is used in agrochemicals to control weeds. 3HFPA inhibits the production of fatty acids by blocking the activity of acyl-CoA oxidase, which catalyzes the oxidation of fatty acids. 3HFPA is also known to inhibit lipid biosynthesis by inhibiting acetyl-CoA carboxylase, which catalyzes the conversion of acetyl-CoA to malonyl-CoA. This inhibition blocks lipid synthesis and leads to cell death. The toxic effects are not limited to plants; studies have shown that 3HFPA has herbicide resistance in some plants and animals, such as rats and earthworms.br>br>
