Description

Angiotensin II is a peptide hormone that is involved in the regulation of blood pressure, water and electrolyte balance, and vascular resistance. It also plays a role in the development of angiogenic diseases such as cancer. Angiotensin II is an antagonist at the AT1 receptor, which is found on many tissues, including those in the brain, kidney, and vasculature. In addition to its effects on blood pressure and fluid retention, angiotensin II has been shown to affect intestinal motility and ileal absorption in rats. The inhibition of angiotensin II could be used for the treatment of neovascular diseases such as cancer.
