Z-Val-Met-OH is also a ligand for the acetylcholine receptor and has been shown to inhibit acetylcholinesterase, leading to an increase in acetylcholine levels. Z-Val-Met-OH binds to the receptor for insulin and can be used as an inhibitor of insulin release from pancreatic beta cells.
