• Description: Vaniprevir is a potent inhibitor of the NS3/4A protease, a viral enzyme that is essential for hepatitis C virus replication. It has been shown to be an effective treatment for hepatitis C in patients with high levels of resistance. Vaniprevir inhibits viral life cycle by binding to the active site of the NS3/4A protease and preventing cleavage of the polyprotein into functional proteins. Vaniprevir also prevents replication of HIV-1 by inhibiting the NS3/4A protease.
