Description

Vilazodone is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that was designed to have low affinity for the dopamine transporter. Vilazodone has been shown to be effective in the treatment of major depressive disorder, with a lower incidence of side effects than other SSRIs. The drug increases 5-HT concentrations and has been shown to be effective in reducing symptoms of infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis and malaria. Vilazodone also has a matrix effect on the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) signal, resulting in an increase in impedance at higher frequencies. This may be due to its ability to interact with benzalkonium chloride or ester hydrochloride.
