Informations sur le produit
- Acetic acid, lithium salt, dihydrate
Lithium acetate dihydrate is a compound that consists of lithium, an anhydrous sodium, and l-tartaric acid. It is used as a thermal expansion agent in the production of zirconium oxide. Lithium acetate dihydrate can be obtained by mixing anhydrous sodium with l-tartaric acid followed by the addition of lithium. The thermal expansion coefficient for lithium acetate dihydrate is about 100 times higher than that of zirconium oxide and its density is also lower. This compound has a hydroxyl group on the surface which may be due to the presence of water molecules in its crystal lattice. Lithium acetate dihydrate is thermally stable and can withstand temperatures up to 400 °C before decomposition begins. Lithium acetate dihydrate is insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform, diethylether, or benzene.
