2-Amino-4-methylquinazoline is a small molecule that inhibits the expression of IL-17A in lung fibroblasts. IL-17A is expressed during the G1 phase of the cell cycle and is involved in translation, as well as molecular pathogenesis. 2-Amino-4-methylquinazoline has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to RNA polymerase and blocking bacterial RNA synthesis. This inhibition leads to bacterial cell death through inhibition of protein synthesis. 2-Amino-4-methylquinazoline also blocks tumor initiation and progression, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis in cancer cells. It has been shown to have antitumor effects against primary brain tumors, but not against breast cancer cells.
