Triallyl citrate has been studied for use as a radiation cross-linker to strengthen the crystalline structure of calcium carbonate. The reaction products formed between triallyl citrate and calcium carbonate include malic acid and polymerized fatty acids. Triallyl citrate has also been shown to react with plasma proteins and is used in some blood products for its immunological effects on human erythrocytes.
