6-Aminobenzo[de]isochromene-1,3-dione is a fluorescent compound that has been used as a chemosensor. It reacts with n-dimethyl formamide to produce a luminescent signal in the presence of an analyte. The reaction rate can be determined by measuring the fluorescence intensity. 6-Aminobenzo[de]isochromene-1,3-dione has also been used to detect DNA duplexes by binding to the nucleotide bases and producing a reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP HPLC) fluorescent light. This method is efficient and can be used for the detection of single base changes in DNA sequences.
