It has been shown to exhibit photocatalytic activity and exciton generation, which can be attributed to its unsymmetrical chemical structure. 1-Methyl-9H-carbazole can be activated thermally or by light, and it exhibits light emission when it undergoes a chemical reaction. 1-Methyl-9H-carbazole also possesses optical properties, including fluorescence and phosphorescence, which have been observed through microscopy.
