Informations sur le produit
- 2,3-Bis(hydroxymethyl)naphtalene
- Naphthalene-2,3-Diyldimethanol
2,3-Bis(hydroxymethyl)naphthalene is a dimeric compound that can be synthesized by the dimerization of two molecules of 2,3-dihydroxymethylnaphthalene. It is a colorless solid with a melting point of −5 °C and boiling point of 228 °C. The reaction proceeds by oxidation at an electrode. The mechanism is not yet fully understood, but it may involve the formation of an acetonitrile intermediate, followed by electrochemical oxidation to diperchlorate and perchlorate ions. The yields are about 50% for the dimerization and about 30% for the electrolysis.
