The heptanoyl-DL-homoserine lactone (C7H14O3) is an intercellular signal molecule that interacts with the microbial population. The chemical structure of this molecule is a cyclic seven-carbon chain with a carboxyl group on one end and a hydroxyl group on the other. The molecule has been shown to be virulent to macrobrachium larvae, and it is hypothesized that its molecular mechanism may be due to interaction with the target sequence. This molecule has been shown to induce dose response in spectroscopy experiments.
