Description :
(R)-3-Amino-4-phenylbutanoic acid is an amino acid with a chiral center at the fourth carbon. The (R) form of this amino acid is the natural product of the biosynthetic pathway that produces l-aspartic acid. It can be synthesized by Friedel-Crafts acylation of benzene derivatives with acetic anhydride, followed by hydrolysis to produce racemic (D,L) 3-amino-4-phenylbutanoic acid.
