Description

Lorcaserin is a drug that acts as an agonist of the 5-HT2C receptor, which is present in tissues such as the gastrointestinal tract and pancreas. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. Lorcaserin has also been shown to have anti-infective properties, inhibiting the growth of bacteria (e.g., E. coli) and fungi (e.g., Candida) in vitro. These properties are attributed to its ability to inhibit cellular protein synthesis by binding to ribosomes and preventing ribosomal translocation along mRNA chains.br>
