Gamma-methyl-gamma-decanolactone is an organic compound that can be synthesized by the cyclodehydration of phenylethyl alcohol. It is a colorless liquid with a fruity odor and can be used as an additive in various products, including food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. Gamma-methyl-gamma-decanolactone has been shown to have antibacterial properties against Fusobacterium nucleatum, Staphylococcus aureus, and other bacteria. It also has been shown to inhibit the growth of acrylonitrile and carbonyl groups. Gamma-methyl-gamma-decanolactone can be used for the production of dihydro methyl jasmonate (DHMJ). This product is widely used in the synthesis of pesticides and herbicides.
