3-Methyl-2H-isoquinolin-1-one is an analog of a natural molecule that can be used to treat autoimmune diseases. It is a small molecule with antiviral and immunomodulatory properties. 3-Methyl-2H-isoquinolin-1-one inhibits the expression of genes involved in the inflammatory response, such as Caspase 9 and IL6, and stimulates the expression of genes involved in tissue repair, such as MMP3 and TIMP3. 3-Methyl-2H-isoquinolin-1-one also has antihepatitis effects by acting on viral replication and targeting virus particles for destruction.
