Description :
2,2′-(Ethylenedithio)diacetic acid is a non-identate chelating agent that reacts with metal ions. It has been shown to have a reaction yield of 92% and the thermodynamic stability constants are low. This compound is also able to form hydrogen bonds with acidic compounds. 2,2′-(Ethylenedithio)diacetic acid has been shown to have a redox potential of -0.00 V and fluorescence properties. This compound can be used as a functional group for synthesizing new drugs or for surface stabilization. 2,2′-(Ethylenedithio)diacetic acid can also act as an efflux pump inhibitor by binding to the metal ion in the pump and preventing it from transporting out of the cell.
