Description

Dimethyloctylamine is a colorless liquid with a molecular weight of 126.2 g/mol and a boiling point of 195 °C. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to α1-acid glycoprotein, which is an important component of the human serum. Dimethyloctylamine also has properties that are useful for the treatment of microbial infections. The compound can be used as an analytical tool for determining the concentration of α1-acid glycoprotein in human serum. Dimethyloctylamine binds to zirconium oxide, which is a matrix material used in gas chromatography, and can be used to quantify this protein in biological samples. It also has strong hydroxyl group and intramolecular hydrogen bonding interactions, which make it an effective catalyst for polymerase chain reactions (PCR).
