It is used in the manufacture of silicone, polyurethanes, and other light-emitting devices. Triethylene glycol butyl methyl ether can also be used as a colorant for plastics or textiles. The product is highly reactive and can be crosslinked with polymers such as polyacrylates or polyesters to form hydrophobic materials. This product may also be used as a sensor for detecting water vapor.
